Personal essays, thoughts, and discussions.
Comedian, writer, slut. That's me.
For those who don't know me at all, here is a more detailed biography written in the third person:
Alison Stevenson is a comedian and writer based in Los Angeles. Her debut television appearance occurred on the Viceland stand-up series, “Flop House”, where she told a joke about giving a man a panic attack with her thighs. Alison was also a member of the video sketch group Blessed, whose videos still exist on Youtube. More recently, she was a “perfect woman” on the Adult Swim Streaming comedy series, “The Perfect Women”, which aired weekly for nearly two years.
On top of stand-up, she is a writer most known as a VICE columnist where she wrote several viral articles many years ago. Since then, she has been published in Huffington Post, Glamour, The Guardian, MAD Magazine, and more.
Currently, she is the creator of body-positive strip show, Thick Strip Enterprises, which has received a fair amount of media attention (Paper, Dazed, VICE, NY Times, etc.). Also, she co-hosts a dating podcast, V Single, with Alexandra Tweten of Bye Felipe.
In October 2020 Audible released an original scripted podcast written by Alison, “Like Mother”. It’s a semi-autobiographical mother-daughter comedy starring her and Susie Essman. Last but not least, Alison has self-released two stand-up albums: “Eat Me” in April 2017 and “Mommy Issues” in September 2019.
So now that you know all that, what’s up with this newsletter?
After years of having to hunt down editors and beg them to look at my pitches, I’m officially (mostly) over it. This newsletter is where I will freely write whatever the fuck I want, and hopefully, it’ll be of interest to you. I primarily write about sex, dating, and body image. However, I intend to expand into other areas such as television and movies, humor pieces, random personal stories, and how about we even open things up to discussion? Join me in talking shit out.
Expect 1-2 pieces in your inbox a month.
Let’s see where this takes us…
